Breaking!! Peter Boaz sacked as Borussia Dortmund Manager

Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund have announced that they have parted ways with Dutch coach Peter Boaz, replacing him former Cologne manager Peter Stoger till the end of the season.

Club officials confirmed the news during a press conference on Sunday evening, following Dortmund’s 2-1 defeat to Werder Breman on Saturday. The result left Dortmund without a victory in eight league games, and seventh in the table three points away from a Champions League place.

Boaz had been recruited in the summer as a replacement for Thomas Tuchel after guiding Ajax to the Europa league football. After initially starting well at the Westfalenstadion, Boaz saw his side drop off significantly both domestically and in the Champions League.

Dortmund had led the way in the first seven rounds of the Bundesliga season, registering six wins and one draw in the process. However, a 3-2 defeat to title rivals RB Leipzig in October kick-started a run of eight games without a win including a 4-4 draw with local rivals Schalke a match which Dortmund had been leading 4-0.

Whilst in the Champions League, Dortmund struggled losing both occasions to Real Madrid and Tottenham and only managing to draw their games with Cypriot side APOEL. Dortmund did finish in third place with a tally of just two points, the lowest ever total to qualify for the Europa League in Champions League history.

Peter Stoger had previously managed Cologne and was sacked by the bottom of the table Bundesliga side last weekend.
